Schematik Now Integrates Directly with KiCad 9
Native KiCad 9 export brings your Schematik schematics into the latest KiCad workflow with full symbol and footprint compatibility.

#Seamless Export to KiCad 9
KiCad 9 landed in late 2025 with a new schematic format, improved DRC, and better library handling. We're happy to announce that Schematik now exports natively to KiCad 9's file format — no conversion step, no lost metadata, and full compatibility with the latest symbols and footprints.
#What's Different
Previous exports went through KiCad 8's format. KiCad 9 introduced changes to net naming, hierarchical sheet handling, and library references. Our new exporter writes directly to the KiCad 9 schema, so your designs open in KiCad 9 with zero manual fixes.
Footprint mapping is preserved. Schematik's component library maps to KiCad footprint libraries (including the official kicad-footprints repo). If you use custom footprints, our export respects your local library paths.
#How to Use It
In Schematik, choose Export → KiCad 9 from the project menu. You'll get a .kicad_sch file ready to open in KiCad. Layout your PCB as usual — netlist and annotations carry over. Existing KiCad 8 export remains available for projects that haven't migrated yet.
